You should try to keep paying your mortgage if at all possible. Your end goal should be to try and sell the house and pay off the mortgage. You should contact your lender and advise them of your situation, and maybe they will work with you to get the house sold - maybe even for less than what is owed. Until you get the house sold, You should eliminate any luxury items such as cell phones, cable, internet access, everything that is not essential. Next would be to let your car get repossessed and ride the bus to work (unless there are no bus routes to work).
